Ideas and resources for menu planning in March, many seasonal winter (and a couple spring) and real food recipes. Very simple ingredients, from scratch. As always, these are all frugal recipes intended for a tight budget. Real food/from scratch/traditional diet/nutrient dense/whole food/blah blah blah. My monthly meal plans are organized into tiers based on how perishable the ingredients are, not sorted into particular days.
*Attention real food purists/whole foodies – the recipes I link/pin are all from scratch, but some of them you may have to make substitutions or modifications. For example, I link recipes that have sugar, but you can substitute whatever your favorite sweetener is.
You can save so much money by planning your meals. Even if you only plan three days at a time, you can be more thrifty by planning ahead.
The universe conspired against me for pretty much the entire month of February. I tried desperately to get the meal plan done before the 1st, which is always my goal, but this month it was not to be. The good news is the Pinterest board has over 230 pins, for your meal plan window shopping pleasure.
*A “real” meal plan with shopping list is in the works, but Feb blew that plan up. Hopefully March is kinder to me.

I found the comment box! Yea! Maybe it just took awhile to pop up. Anyway, your meal plan looks wonderful. Thank you for your visit.
Phew! I was worried! And thanks!
I like how you’re planning around what is in season. I haven’t gone to the farmer’s market since the fall. I’m hoping to start back in a few weeks.
I can’t wait for the farmers market to come back! We have one winter market in the area but I’m never up there when it’s open.
Wow! I love how you have the food items organized from most perishable to least. I do that mentally, though I think writing it down ensures that less food is wasted!
I have to write it down, I can’t remember anything. I’ll organize it even more closely on my desktop, so I don’t end up wasting food. I can’t stand wasting produce, but I do have food hoarding tendencies.
This is such an organized list. Awesome that you’re informing people on what’s in season and what is most perishable. Fantastic!
Thanks. I really like to cook in season, stuff just tastes better.
Wow, you are super organized! Do you have army of kids? One of my neighbors has eight kids and she’s pretty organized, too. We are a family of 4 so things get done pretty easily by just thinking about it once a week.
Yes, I have 4 kids. I’ve got nothing on 8!!
What a fantastic resource this post is! So many delicious recipes and some really sound advice. I’ve pinned it to my menu planning board on Pinterest. Thank you so much for sharing it with us at the Hearth and Soul hop.
Thanks! I’ll have to go take a look.
